Arne guides Gustaf through his first glide

Finally, after weeks of blood, sweat & tears (many, many tears!) and general birthing pains, Gustaf, our ‘mule’ test chassis took his first tentative steps in front of his proud parents and many supporters in the eLab. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house!  Reasons, too, why there hasn’t been a blog-post in a while…

Congratulations are due to all team members who put in some quite extraordinary hours to achieve the viewing deadline, grudgingly giving up their drinking time to ensure that all went according to plan. The first test run went off very well indeed with all basic systems behaving themselves.

Pierre, departing as Mechanical Head to complete his Masters, was awarded the “Rod of Shame” by the team in recognition for the excellent effort he has put in over the last nine months in helping us get to where we are currently (and for his last-minute buckling test intervention). Matthew has now taken over as the new MechHead for the remaining duration of the project. – good luck Matty-boy, it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person!

Loads of wiring for the elecheads to muck about with...

Our thanks go through to the guys at Kromberg & Schubert for their generous sponsorship of plenty of wiring to the Solar Car Project. This is very much appreciated and will be a great help in the Electrical/Electronic aspect of the project. Thanks guys! To view their website, click on their logo below…
