The Solar Car Team was very privileged to be invited to display at the recent Southern African Association for Energy Efficiency-run 2013 SA Energy Efficiency Conference, held at the NMB S&T Centre in Uitenhage.

The event was very well-attended by industry-affiliated representatives, who spent some time grilling the team about their experiences in the 2012 SASC event, and several good contacts were made as a result. Many thanks to everyone for their interest, and especially to Gareth Burley for extending the invitation.

NMMU Open Day

It was NMMU Open Day again recently, and the team spent two days at the South Campus Sports Centre on display for aspiring students and the public in general.

This event was very well attended again, and the team spent much of the two days interacting with many visitors, including a number of young children, who were very keen to get into the car itself.

STEM in Action

The Solar Car team was recently visited by a party of high school pupils from various regional schools, this being part of the STEM in Action campaign at the NMMU, and spent some time going over the experiences of being in the Solar Car Project, as well as giving our visitors some advice on university life and studying in general.

WATT NOW – SAIEE Presidential visit

The Solar Car team had the great pleasure of welcoming SAIEE President, Mr Paul van Niekerk, to the Solar Car Project recently as part of his visit to the NMMU.

The team showed Mr van Niekerk around the Lab, detailed the development of the project, showed him the internals of Photon and also gave him feedback on their recent experiences on the South African Solar Challenge. Many thanks for the visit and for your interest in the project.

The Solar Car team welcomed visitors from afar – guys’n'gals from Khanyisa High School in Umtata were recent visitors to the Solar Car lab, and the team spent a few hours introducing them to the project and our experiences. It was great having you guys here, and we hope you enjoyed the visit & the trip!
